System Explorer 2.8.2

jayarkay

I love this tool, and have been using this for a long time. A couple of things:

When I select a process from the process list, the list scrolls to bring my selection to the center (or as close to the center as it can). There may be users who find that feature nice - so, maybe you guys can add an option to turn scrolling on/off?

Also, is there an option to hide or turn off the left pane? Or maybe switch between having a pane or showing them as tabs (as in the older version). I don't want part of my window being taken up by a pane that I don't need after I have made my selection. In the pane itself, there are expand/collapse buttons, but it doesn't allow me to collapse a section.

Under some of the sections like Modules, Services, Drivers etc, clicking on View --> Select Columns... throws an error saying "Active control does not support this function!", whereas I can still right click on the list and select/unselect columns that I want. The first two were more of "feature requests" while this third one is probably a bug in the code somewhere.

Thanks!

phpMyAdmin 3.4.2 RC1

Orbitration

Reviewing 2.11.1 RC1 (Sep 17, 2007)

Not to be argumentative, but.......
You're obviously not using php v4 Windows, and I am.
There is no fix for this yet, nor will there be it seems.

Why am I still using v4 ? because every one of my realtime Linux website servers is still using it along with mysql 3 or 4.
EVERY one.

They don't seem to be using any PHPMyAdmin later than 2.10+, either.

Why am I downgrading PHPMyAdmin?

Either the message needs to be removed, or whatever, but my PHP/MySQL combo works perfectly, and the only thing reporting an 'error' is... this program, versions 2.11+

2Slipped it in:

Just because you cannot find a changelog, doesn't mean you should underrate this software.

Human readable changelog is available on http://kernelnewbies.org/Linux_2_6_35 shortly after the stable kernel has been released. Raw changelog is always available on http://kernel.org/.

PC Decrapifier 2.2.6

Vivek Kowshik

Reviewing 2.2.6 (Jun 3, 2011)

On seeing so many 5 stars, I decided to give this a try. Used Universal Extractor to extract all the files and ran the "portable app" without installing. Can someone tell me what use is this app when all that it can do is remove autorun items, and uninstall applications??? Unfortunately I have already uninstalled everything that I had found useless, for me to try out this feature.

Is there anything that it can do which a full fledged cleaning app such as ioBit Toolbox cannot handle?? Can someone tell me whether this app ever uninstalled anything so cleanly (folders, files and registry entries) as the ioBit utility does???

µTorrent for Windows (v3.0) 3.0 Build 25345 RC4

Blaxima

Reviewing 3.0.25234 Beta (May 4, 2011)

Actually johnk119, the controversy started when BitTorrent bought utorrent and not because it's user base has grown slightly. It always has been rather popular.

With the old utorrent I could minimize it to my tray and let it do its thing while I did mine. With these versions I notice it impeding on what I'm doing. It's definately getting a little resource hungry and that was one of the main reasons I used it over Azerus. I also noticed that when finished with it my bandwidth was still very sluggish. I had to reboot my modem and router but as soon as I used this version the bandwidth was throttled again.

I've gone back to 1.6.1 and have no more issues with my system and my bandwidth. Looks like I'll be sticking with that seeing the direction they are taking this software.

Lock Folder Lock File! 1.3

Lock Folder Lock File! gives you a whole new level of security, allowing you to lock access to specific files, entire folders, or even entire drives. It also allows you to protect your Windows desktop from unauthorized modification and all the features of the program can be easily accessed from the system tray. This way, only you will have access to the files you protect by using your master password which you specify when you set up the security options.

Recover My Files 4.6.8.1091

shodan816

Reviewing 3.9.8.5813 (Nov 12, 2007)

I have tested both Recover My Files and Recuva extensively. Recover My Files is far superior and discovers far more recoverable files than Recuva does. In all fairness, however, Recuva IS FREE, so that accounts for a lot. RMF should be priced less than it is, for sure. $70. is WAY out of line for a file recovery utility. The author would be far better off charging, say $20. and having far fewer people using cracked copies of it. My opinion, of course. The only reason I gave this a '3' instead of a '5' is the absurd price...

Mp3tag 2.49

roj

Reviewing 2.47a (Nov 22, 2010)

Love this software with one caveat:

Managing user-defined strings for the various file tagging and renaming drop boxes (specifically deleting unwanted strings) desperately needs work. Deleting those strings one at a time is completely unacceptable, especially since they don't necessarily stay deleted.

Other than that, this is perfection.

FOUR stars for an utterly indspensible member of my music management toolkit and extreme kudos to the author.

Google Chrome (v13) 13.0.782.1 Beta

Input Overload

Reviewing 13.0.782.1 Beta (Jun 2, 2011)

Installed & running without issue on 5 PC's today. An excellent browser that will be the default in the near future as it’s leaving Firefox in the weeds.

Note: this is a ‘Beta’ – I hope you are listening at the back... If you have issues which I haven’t had go to the Chrome homepage & install the stable.

@Urinal - it sounds like you have a Boot Sector Virus \ Root kit. You probably got this from using 'keygens' to get a serial for programs instead of actually buying them. 'Mil Shield’ perhaps?

Norton do an excellent free Malware removal tool that should sort it. This is the only logical conclusion to your many spyware outbreaks as you will be redirected to crap if you have such Malware on your PC. I would also recommend you buying the full version of ‘Malwarebytes’ or ‘Prevx’ which should prevent re-infection.

One of your many (5 as I know of) clean installs will not help as the Virus will survive by hiding in the boot sector & will resist a format. This answer is free, unfortunately I'm going to have to charge you for more advice @ £350 GBP per day.
